RIYADH, 23 January 2003 — Saudi Arabia announced last night that it had arrested a Kuwaiti man believed to be the gunman who opened fire on Americans in the emirate on Tuesday. One American died and another was hurt in the attack.
An official source at the Interior Ministry said border guard officers arrested the man yesterday morning while attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally from Kuwait.
“It appeared from preliminary investigation that he was the man who opened fire on the Americans stationed in Kuwait on Tuesday,” the source said, adding that the Kingdom would hand over the suspect to Kuwait. (SPA)
