JEDDAH, 30 January 2003 — Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia registered a morale-boosting 1-0 triumph over Al-Malab of Tunisia in the final Group One match of the Arab League soccer tournament for the Prince Faisal Cup.

At the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here last night, local challengers Ittihad scored the winning goal through striker Sergio to finish on top of the group with seven points from three matches and qualify for the semifinals.

Malab joined them in the last four stage with four points from three matches.

Abubakar Kamara’s beautiful center found Sergio face to face with the Malab goalkeeper in the 15th minute. Sergio’s powerful kick saw the ball rebound off the goalkeeper toward Sergio who made no mistake with his second kick.

Today, Al-Ahli of Jeddah meet Al-Fasi of Morocco and Afriqi of Tunisia face Al-Ahli of Bahrain in final Group Two matches. Jeddah’s Ahli have already made sure of their last four place.
