DUBAI: A new full-length trailer for Hollywood star Gerard Butler’s upcoming action thriller “Kandahar” has been released.

“Kandahar” was shot in the AIUla region of Saudi Arabia and will be released in the Middle East by Eagle Films on May 26, 2023.

The feature reunites Butler with director Ric Roman Waugh, with whom he’s worked on films like “Angel Has Fallen” and “Greenland.”

Butler plays Tom Harris, an undercover CIA operative, stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan.

After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down.

Other films shot in AlUla include Tom Holland-starring “Cherry” and Tawfik Al-Zaidi’s “Norah,” which was the first Saudi feature film to be shot in AlUla.
