RIYADH, 15 February 2003 — Sales of firewood and coal have increased by 60 percent in Riyadh because of the current spell of cold weather and an increase in the number of Eid vacationers camping out, according to local traders.
Eeid ibn Omar, a firewood merchant, said demand for wood and coal for domestic use started to build up four months ago.
“It’s mostly youngsters and the elderly who buy coal for heating purposes when camping out,” he told Al-Watan daily.
