Bid to Steal ATM Machine Foiled

KHAMIS MUSHAYT, 23 February 2003 — Police in this southern town arrested three men yesterday an hour after they tried to drag an ATM machine from a wall by hooking it up to a stolen car. Ali Al-Hazmi of the Khamis Mushayt police told Arab News that the men tied the ATM, which at the time contained more than half a million riyals, to the back of their car, and succeeded in dislodging it. After they had dragged it along the road for a kilometer, a phone call from an Asian expatriate worker alerted the police to the attempted theft.
