Sultan Opens Jizan Airport

JIZAN, 24 February 2003 — Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, yesterday inaugurated the newly expanded Jizan regional airport, which has been named after Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard. The expansion, which was carried out at a total cost of SR122 million, includes construction of the main runway and arrival and departure lounges. The new project has increased the airport’s annual handling capacity to 1.2 million passengers.
