JEDDAH, 12 March 2003 — Jordan is focusing on its aviation training programs at a four-day expo here on educational and vocational training that entered its second day yesterday.

The Mideast Aviation Academy, located at Marka Airport in Amman, is showcasing its training program for courses in private pilot, commercial and airline transport pilot and certified flight instructor.

The country’s Sun Aviation Academy offers training in instrument rating and technicians training aside from commercial pilot.

“With students from this part of the world no more attracted to the United States for pilot and technical training in aviation, we’re here to showcase our programs,” said Osama Hiyari of Sun Aviation Academy.

With an eye on the expanding GSM market here, a Jordan company is offering training in consultancy, engineering and services to the wireless telecommunications industry. “The wireless telecommunications market is ballooning and we expect a big response from students seeking training,” Ashraf Sabha, customer support manager of the Amman-based Cellular Integrated Services Company, said.

Offering information on their education facilities from the Kingdom are Prince Sultan University and Prince Sultan Private College for Women, the Riyadh-based Institute of Banking Insurance Foundation Diploma, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals’ College of Industrial Management, Al-Maharat International School and Saudi German Institute for Nursing & Allied Health Sciences.

South Africa and Malaysia have put up stands showcasing campus facilities and distance education programs. “The range of courses offered both within the Kingdom and overseas should serve as a good guide to our students in selecting right vocations,” said King Abdul Aziz University President Dr. Ghazi Madani who cut the ribbon to mark the formal opening of the second Saudi Educational & Vocational Training expo at Alhamra International Exhibition Center on the Corniche on Monday night.
