Alghamdi, Kanoo, SWCC and Deccan Blues Shine in EPCA

DAMMAM, 14 March 2003 — In the EPCA League sponsored by Alghamdi Trading Establishment, Alghamdi beat arch rival AGE Sr. by 5 wickets. AGE scored 295 for the loss of 7 wickets. Faraz (78 runs) was the top scorer. Mohammed A. Raouf scored a fine half century, Sadaqat 45 runs, Rizwan 44 runs were other main scorers. Khawar and Sajjad took 2 wickets each.

In reply to AGE’s tally, Alghamdi reached the total in the last over. Riaz Saeed played an anchor role as he scored a fine century with the help of 5 hits to the fence and a mighty six and took his team to victory. Khawar also batted very well and contributed a useful 76 runs and Tariq scored 39 runs.

In another match, Kanoo crushed YATA by 9 wickets. YATA batted first and scored 262 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Saeed scored a fine century and Najeeb also scored a valuable half century and Bilal chipped in with 38 runs. Waqas took 2 wickets. Kanoo reached the target in the 30th over thanks to Munawwar who scored an unbeaten 171 runs including 20 boundaries. Ayub Khan scored an unbeaten half century while Goga contributed well with 32 runs.

In the first division, SWCC beat Hyderabad Blues by 69 runs. SWCC 351 for 6. Zulfiqar Ali scored an unbeaten 153 runs with the help of 16 boundaries and 8 towering sixes. Shakil scored a half century and Tariq contributed 42 runs. Tanweer and Nadeem took 2 wickets each.

In reply, Hyderabad Blues could only manage to score 284 runs in their allotted 40 overs. Captain Sajid Ansari played a wonderful knock but unfortunately missed his century by just 6 runs. Allauddin scored 47 runs, Ghayas and Nadeem scored 30 runs each. Shahid and Tariq took 2 wickets each.

In another match, Deccan Blues beat NATEST by 166 runs. Nazeer Hussain played glorious strokes to every corner of the field and scored a superb century with the help of 10 hits to the fence. Omer contributed with 45 and Ehtisham scored useful 32 runs. Jawed and Waheed took 2 wickets each for NATEST. In reply, NATEST were all out for 120 runs Waheed 23 runs was the top scorer. Zafar and Omer took 4 wickets each.

Kanoo 223 runs beat Alghamdi by 65 runs. Iqbal Bali 98, Waqas 27 runs. Tariq got 3 wickets. Alghamdi 158 all out Sajjad 47 runs and Tariq 37 runs. Majaz 4 wickets for 25 runs.

SVM 192 beat Deccan Blues by 17 runs. Ishaq 54 runs and Ashraf 33 runs. Omer got 3 wickets. Deccan Blues were all out for 175. Omer 48 runs Faisal got 4 wickets and Unni claimed 3 wickets.

Khalifa Algosaibi made 377 for 4 and defeated Bassam by 327 runs. Abbas Husain 106 not out, Hidayat 80, Amin 76 and Akbar Hussain 44 runs. Bassam were all out for 46 runs while Hidayat got 3 wickets.

Nawab XI beat ADPCO and Basim International beat Hyderabad Blues.
