ALKHOBAR, 18 March 2003 — Le Gulf Meridien and Arab News are making special arrangements for the telecast of the two semifinals of the ICC World Cup Cricket today and Thursday.

The semifinals will be telecast in a bigger hall as the hotel expects a larger crowd for the event, Le Meridien revenue manager Prashant Sharma said.

“We expect more than 300 people from several countries to visit the Arab News-Le Gulf Meridien Cricket Pavilion, and as a result we have made more elaborate arrangements,” he said.

The two matches and the finals on March 23 will be telecast in hotel’s Al-Mawad Hall, where more than 300 people earlier witnessed the India-Pakistan match. There will be two large screens in addition to several home theater television sets and a state-of-the-art sound system to provide a stadium-like atmosphere.

Prizes for the quiz contest during the semifinals and finals there are offered by Saudi Arabian Airlines Catering, Asia International School, JVC and Bitumat.

Sharma said the hotel was offering special packages for schoolchildren and compound residents as well as free pick-ups for group bookings.
