New Oilfield

RIYADH, 2 April 2003 — Saudi Aramco has discovered a new oilfield in the eastern region of the Kingdom, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi announced here yesterday. He said the new field, called Yebrin, is about 260 km southeast of Riyadh and 50 km south of Haradh, on the southern edge of the giant Al-Ghawar oil field. Drilling for Yebrin-1 started on May 20, 2002, he said, adding that the well produced 5,100 bpd of very light oil and 4.7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
