RIYADH, 3 April 2003 — Computer sales in the Riyadh market have declined by 70 percent because of the war in Iraq, Al-Madinah reported yesterday. Ahmad Fouad, a computer vendor, told the newspaper that the war has hit the computer market hard. “Consumers are only buying computer accessories now, whereas a month ago both Saudis and expatriates were rushing to buy the latest computers.” According to Muhammad Ahmad, owner of a computer firm, sales have declined by 70 percent.
