KUWAIT CITY, 16 April 2003 — A 12-year-old Iraqi boy who lost both his arms and his family in a missile attack on his home in Baghdad was expected in Kuwait late yesterday for treatment, a Health Ministry spokesman said here.
“Ali (Ismail Abbas) is flying from Baghdad to Nassiriyah, where he will have a rest and then start his journey to Kuwait,” Ahmad Al-Shatti said. The orphaned boy will be treated in the emirate’s specialized Al-Babtain burns center for “as long as he needs the treatment,” Shatti said.
Ali is among a group of children that have been flown to Kuwait by the US military for vital treatment.
