JEDDAH, 17 April 2003 — Al-Nasr scored a key 2-1 victory over Al-Riyadh in the King Fahd Cup Soccer Tournament to jump to second spot. But their stay at the second rung could be brief as chasers Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli are set to clash today in one of the top matches of the league.
At the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Satdium in Riyadh, Nasr sustained their ascendancy with a controlled display, and their odd goal in three victory gave them 39 points.
In a battle to avoid the drop, Al-Ittifaq beat Al-Raid 1-0 to earn crucial three points. The victory gave Ittifaq 18 points and kept them on tenth and in the top flight, while Raid, with 13 points and in 11th spot, will be relegated to the First Division.
