DXlabs.net has become the first independent website launched to serve the needs of IT hardware fanatics in Saudi Arabia. Engineered, developed, designed and maintained by Asim Siddiqui, a recent graduate of a Jeddah high school, DXlabs is aiming to become much more than a place to read hardware reviews.

“I wanted to create a site where local IT users could come together and exchange views, share news and learn from each other,” said Siddiqui. “I just got the site up and running on April 5, so it’s still a little raw, but I hope that people will come, take a look and join in the forums.”

In addition to the moderated forums, DXlabs plans to offer price quotes from local computer shops around the Kingdom and detail some of the problems and scams that computer users are facing in the local market place. This is definitely a site for users operating on a shoestring budget. Siddiqui already has posted articles on building a makeshift, DIY home theater, and revamping instead of replacing an ugly keyboard.

Registered users can sell equipment through DXlabs and get help with nagging computer problems. Siddiqui’s hardware reviews are based on his own personal experience, for better or worse. Take a minute and sign up at dxlabs.net. It’s about time consumers in the Kingdom had a place to express their views on the insanity all too prevalent in the local IT hardware market.
