JEDDAH, 21 May 2003 — A Six-A-Side Soccer Tournament for teams from government and private sectors is now on at Prince Khalid ibn Abdullah Hall at the Al-Ahli Saudi club.
Former president of Ahli club Ahmad Al-Marzoqi and Abdullah Al-Bolushi, the secretary general and president of the committee organizing the event, attended the opening ceremony.
Ten teams are participating in the tournament. They are: Sadafco, Al-Zahid A, King Fahd Coastal City, Eisaie, Bugshan, The Arabian Corniche, Hawazen Group, Samiat Al-Hejaz, Amoudi and Al-Zahid B. The month-long tournament will be played on Thursdays and Fridays, with three matches set for a day. Scores of people attended the first day matches of the tournament.
In the opening matches, Amoudi subdued King Fahd Coastal City 2-0 while Sadafco gained a 2-1 win against Eisaie team. In another match, Samiat Al-Hejaz scored a facile 4-0 victory against Al-Zahid A team, while in the fourth match, Amoudi scored 3-0 win against Al-Zahid B.
