RIYADH, 22 May 2003 — Filipino amateur, hobbyist and non-professional photographers in the Kingdom are invited to join “Your Best Shot,” the 1st Photography Competition organized by the CAMERAderie Photographer’s Club in Riyadh in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy.
The contest is part of the activities lined up in celebration of the 105th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence.
Organizers said all entries should focus on the creativity of an OFW through photography.
Ferdie Uruttia, the club’s president, said submission of entries will be on or before June 1. “All photographs must be original, strictly no re-production and computer manipulation, and must be suitable for viewing audiences of all ages,” he said.
A photo exhibition will be held on June 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a photography competition will be on June 13 at the Bulwagang Apolinario Mabini at the embassy.
CAMERAderie said that the 1st prize winner will receive SR2,000 plus a certificate, the 2nd prize winner will get SR1,000 plus a certificate, and 3rd placer will earn SR500 plus certificate. Ten consolation prizes will be awarded to the runners-up.
The event will be co-sponsored by Nova Water at Powerhorse Energy Drink.
Urrutia said a maximum of 5 entries of color or black & white photographic prints will be accepted; each photo will be charged a SR25.00 entry fee; prints must be 8”x10” color or black & white, mounted on 11” x 14” black illustration board; and entries will be automatically a property of the Philippine Embassy.
