Jeraisy Group Basketball Tourney Set to Roll

RIYADH, 23 May 2003 — Jeraisy Group will launch its Inter-Company (Bonafide) Basketball Tournament on Friday, May 30 at the Jeraisy Staff Compound Basketball Court, Exit 7 — back of Al-Imam University, Riyadh.

This event, which has support from its management headed by Khalid Al Jeraisy, president-Riyadh House Est., and Riad Siblini, marketing manager and sports coordinator, will see nine teams in action and games will be played every Sunday, Thursday and Friday.

During the basketball clinic held recently, Tournament Commissioner Ed Tamayo stressed the main purpose of this event which is providing quality basketball games to all basketball aficionados where the primary objective is to promote physical fitness and brotherhood, enhance camaraderie and to provide worthwhile sports program. It was in this meeting that the nine company teams officially submitted their intention to participate in this tournament.

Proven champion teams Kudu Company and Pizza Hut frontline the list of participating teams. With veterans in the likes of Kudu’s Superman Noel “Bordz” Sabordo, towering Pondador Aguinaldo, Rey Sillo, Allain Catalan, and rookie Manuel Calma for Kudu and Sheraton League’s MVP Joseph Abasolo, Dave Mallari, Larry “bullstrong” De Guzman, and Nante Garcia for Pizza Hut, Tournament Chairman Larry Gabuni, Technical Commissioner Ernie Dela Cruz and FCBR President Alex Sanchez look forward to some close battle of the bests plus discovery of hidden basketball expertise from the rest of the participating team cagers

Other participating teams are Jeraisy Group (host team) headed by high leaper Michael Tamayo, Fernando Quizon and Lito De Dios, Zahran Company of Arnel “Mr. Assist” Ardamoy, Dunkin Donut headed by Dick Policarpio, Renato San Diego and Dodong Solis, Jarir Bookstore of Johnny Castillo and Jess Ordinario, Golden Grass Inc. of Nestor De Castro and John Caballero, Seder Group headed by Julius Morales and Manager Rene Alipio, and KKIA of Abdulrahman Tunayan and coach Ramon Rollan.

Powerhorse Energy Drink through the generous support of Ahmad Al-Haroun — country manager, and Dick Jacinto — sports coordinator, is the major sponsor of this tournament. Krua-Thai Restaurant through the kind services of Jeff Berdon and Ferdie Frilles, among others have pledged to make this league a success.
