JEDDAH, 6 June 2003 — Top Gun team keglers stole the spotlight in the 13th week of the All Filipino Tenpin Bowling League (AFTBL) organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ) at the Bowling World.
Top Gun stars of the show, Leo Edejer, Rodell Ricafort and Ruben Medina powered Top Gun to seal 29 points and helped Top Gun climbed-up the ladder to occupy the fourth position. Edejer carded 668 in three games with game-high of 228 in the second game. Ricafort had a series of 624 with 214 points in the first match while Medina scored 266 in the last game and ended his game with 609. Goying Salazar and Rudy Valenzuela submitted a separate series of 504 and 490.
Dove Bar team keglers shared spotlight with the Top Gun by collecting 33 points with Hashim Guinomla posting a series of 657, with 235 in the third game. Jess Pineda rolled 234, 221 and 173 for a total three game series of 543. Joey Salvador, Nap Pataya and Edwin Ronquillo tabbed a series of 572, 543 and 517 in three games.
Still holding the numero uno spot were the Omo team keglers who produced 32 points and topscoring was Zaldy Parinas with a three game series of 654, rolling 268 in the last game. Also were Jun Lasaga (595), Andy Erena (568), Toto Lim (561), and Joe Flores (544). Nonie Yap and Abet Sarte led in the Libby’s Juice by tallying a separate series of 627 and 608. Yap had 268 in the second match while Sarte downed 236 in the first outing. Mao Orolfo and Rally Zamora sandbagged 563 and 542 while Igna Salgado scored 540 points.
A total of 21 points were registered by the SkyFreight Forwarders with Rene Santiago who registered a three game series of 648. Santiago, a 300 perfect holder downed 265 in the first match. Jerriel Cacao of the Gandour Yamama team rolled a high game of 275. Cacao compiled a series of 620 and likewise Fred Monzon, and Terry Naorbe pinned down a series of 571 and 551. Patrick Escondo and Jess Escondo shared a series of 548 and 520.
Saudi Pearl sealed 17 points through Rey Beltran posting a series of 612. Rene Martinez , Rene San Pedro and Boy Casio hammered a separate series of 544, 531 and 520 while Luis T. Luna poured 475 points.
Mixi Lechuga shone in the Ay Sarap Catering team by carding a series of 620 while Roger Daquioag had 575 and the duo of Danny Bautista and Benjie Cils toppled an identical series of 540 and Eddie Tuico scored 502 series. Roger Abantas and Lindo Villanueva led Picpa Pro with a separate three game series of 575 and 542, followed by Jun Pilipinas (535), Emil Payongayong (535), and Eddie Alisbo (508).
Omo, Libby’s Juice Bounces Back to Claim Center Stage in AFTBL Tilt
The Omo and the Libby’s Juice team keglers made a lot of bowling enthusiasts happy by displaying separate devastating forms to claim bowling spotlight in the 12th week of the keenly contested All Filipino Tenpin Bowling League organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ).
Joe Flores, taking advantage of his 15 handicap per game, starred for the Omo quintet in last week’s action including rolling a game-high of 257 in the second game to card a towering three game series of 687 points. Flores downed 216 in the first set and 190 in the last game. Jun Lasaga played second-billing to Flores by posting a series of 612, rolling 209 in the first while fellow-team members Zaldy Parinas, Andy Erena and Toto Lim chipped-in separate series of 576, 561 and 517 in three games. The Omo squad collected 37 big points after the ball game. The Libby’s Juice registered 26 points through the combined efforts of Abet Sarte, Mao Orolfo, Igna Salgado, Rally Zamora and Larry Santos. Orolfo led with a series of 595 followed by Sarte with 569 series. Salgado had 545 while Zamora and Santos toppled 527 and 511.
The Top Gun through the impressive games of Goying Salazar, Rudy Valenzuela and Ruben Medina snatched 26 points by scoring a separate three game series of 586, 585 and 567. Leo Edejer and Rodell Ricafort scored 540 and 520 series in three sets, respectively. League leaders, the SkyFreight Forwarders continued their strong showing to collect 35 points. The brilliant games displayed by one-time 300 perfect holder, Rene Santiago was the SkyFreight’s star of the show by carding an impressive three game series of 662. Santiago rolled 221, 218 and 214. Hero Garcia and Edu Toledo sizzled to tally a series of 589 and 580 while Danny “almond” de Guzman and the multiawarded Cris Villaveles submitted 579 and 541 series in three outings. Titlist Jun Pilipina and Paul Antiporda, this time, displayed their prowess to help the Picpa Pro snatch 22 points. Pilipina and Antiporda scored a series of 585 and 564. Roger Abantas, Emil Payongayong and Eddie Alisbo poured 548, 513 and 489. The Dove Bar team keglers captained by Edwin Ronquillo sealed 20 points and topscoring was another 300 perfect holder, Joey Salvador, with 584 series. Raul delos Reyes fired 578 points while Nap Patayan, Ronquillo and Jess Pineda got a series of 530, 520 and 512.
A total of 19 points were registered by the Showtime quintet with Mat Abadier topscoring with 609.
