DAMMAM, 13 June 2003, 13 June 2003 — In the EPCA DHL Super Cup 20 overs tournament, AGE beat Khalifa Algosaibi by 35 runs. Batting first AGE scored 212 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Thanks to Waheed, who scored valuable 88 runs which included 13 hits to the fence and a beautiful six. Rizwan also batted well and scored a fine half century, Akbar and Eijaz bowled well and took two wickets each.
In reply Khalifa Algosaibi could only manage to score 178 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Akbar Hussain and Abbas scored 40 runs each and Mannan contributed 24 runs. Abul Hassan bowled well and took 3 wickets.
In another match Nawab XI beat Hyderabad Blues by 117 runs. Nawab batted first and scored 263 runs Faisal and Nadeem delighted the crowd with their brilliant stroke play. Faisal was a bit unlucky as he missed his century by 7 runs. In his 93 he hit 14 boundaries. Faisal also batted very well and scored 70 runs which included 7 boundaries. Shaker chipped in with a breezy 35 with 3 towering sixes and three elegant boundaries in just nine balls.
In reply, Hyderabad Blues manage to score 146 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Tanweer scored a brilliant unbeaten 116 that was studded with ten boundaries. He didn’t get any support from the other end.
SVM beat DHL by 9 wickets. DHL batted first and were all out for 133 runs. Opener Dileepa and Patrick scored 45 runs at the end of 5 overs when Ishaque came to bowl and changed the course of the match as he took two wickets in his first two balls one dot ball a single and then again a wicket in his first over.
Madhura scored 33 runs against some superb spin bowling supported by some excellent fielding. DHL batsmen had some relief as Ishaque was withdrawn from bowling by the captain Mohammed Ayub but when he came on to bowl the last over the score was 132 for 6 and this time he took 4 wickets and all the batsmen were stumped by skipper Ayub. It was a superb display of leg spin bowling as Ishaque took 7 wickets for just 12 runs in his allotted 4 overs.
In reply, SVM lost David in the 4th over when David was on 23 with four boundaries. Ishaque came to bat and this time he showed his class with the bat as he kept rotating the strike with Ayub, who scored a fine unbeaten 59 runs which included 6 boundaries. Ishaque remained unbeaten on 33 with six hits to the fence and they took SVM to a great victory.
