JEDDAH, 14 June 2003 — Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline, has been distinguished with an award from the Airfinance Journal during the publication’s “Deal of the year” annual event in New York recently. The journal’s awards are regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the airline financial industry. Emirates won the ‘Middle East deal of the year’ award. “Emirates is one of the most innovative airlines, and this is the third year running that it has won an award. This continues to demonstrate how much the financial markets respect Emirates and its management team,” Airfinance Journal Editor Alasdair Whyte said. The airline has also been voted ‘best airline in the Middle East,’ ‘best regional airline’ and ‘airline with the best cabin crew’ by readers of Business Traveler Middle East, one of the region’s leading business travel publications. The carrier, which was also ‘best airline in the Middle East’ last year, has won more than 200 awards since it first took off in 1985.
