JEDDAH, 22 June 2003 — The Kingdom’s second largest city is getting ready for the 24th Jeddah Festival. The preparations for the festival have been described as the best ever. Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed announced a month ago that the festival will take place from June 26 to July 31. The festival will encompass 200 events catering to all tastes.

Muhammad Abdullah Al-Shareef, the president of the organizing committee for the Jeddah festival, said the opening ceremony will take place at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium on June 26.

Every Thursday, there will be fireworks in two locations, on the Corniche and at the Jeddah Equestrian Club, he said. Jeddah’s malls will see prize draws every Friday.

There will be a historical festival in the Balad district. The festival will also see a hot air balloon show at Navras field on the northern Corniche in addition to sailplane shows at an airfield near Al-Malik Road, he added.
