RIYADH, 27 June 2003 — Eight teams began action in the 18th EDSA Inter-Commercial Dart Team Tournament at the Cues Recreation Center here. The tourney dubbed as “Inter-Cargo Dart Challenge 2003” is the second inter-commercial dart team event organized by the Expat Darters of Saudi Arabia (EDSA) this year. It is hosted by Cues Recreation Center managed by Khaled Al Subaei and sponsored by eight cargo forwarders based in the capital city.
The first showdown results showed a high debut output from Peter Maranan’s COD-Wakaray at the expense of new team Golden Bird Expo of Khalid Al Majid, 16-1. The strong line-up of Wakaray powered Expo in the singles match with a towering 7-1 lead and continued the onslaught in the doubles up to the last leg giving their opponent a lone score. Only Orencio Vargas of Expo scored the sole output.
MRM Phoenix of Joel Calayo and Filex Malubay of Gody Malubay also walked home with separate victories in last Friday’s showdown. Phoenix downed Utex Striker Point of Francis Augusto, 10-7 while Filex Malubay won a decision match, 9-8, opposite Visayan Cargo Bulls, sister team of MRM Phoenix.
The eight contesting teams are: Ace Metro Star of Vic Manaois, COD Wakaray of Peter Maranan, MRM-Phoenix and Visayan Cargo Bulls of Joel Calayo, Filex Malubay of Gaudencio Malubay, Sky Freight STR of Noel de Leon, Utex Striker Point of Francis Augusto and Golden Bird-Expo of Khalid Al Majid.
