JEDDAH, 11 July 2003 — The prize distribution function of Al-Rabea Pulz, sponsors of the Jeddah Cricket League’s Premier Division 2001-2002 was held at Lasani (Spinzer) Restaurant’s Garden.
Manzour Karimuddin was the chief guest and he gave away the prizes to the winner, runners-up and best performers of the tournament.
The gathering included the EPCA (Eastern Provision Cricket Association) squad under the leadership of president, Syed Aftab Ahmed, MCA (Madinah Cricket Association) President Syed Zahid Ali, YCL (Yanbu Cricket League) President Abdul Jabbar Hussain, Al-Hamrani Fuchs Petroleum Vice President Mumtaz Abmed, journalists, clubs officials, team members and a number of senior cricketers.
Shahid Amin, president of JCL, welcomed the guests and thanked Al-Rabea Pulz for sponsoring the league. Manzour Karimuddin congratulated the winners and stressed on the value of physical fitness and stated that “pulz” energy drinks have been created to increase stamina. He awarded the winner’s cup to Nisar Ahmed, skipper of Traco Green and runners-up cup to Tariq Mahmoud of Mahmoud Saeed XI.
The individual performance awards were as follows: Batsman with best average in the league; Anis Malik (Saudia Milk) ave. 143.25. Rashid Malik (Zuhair Zahran) ave 76. 29 and Syed Wajahat Hussain (Mahmoud Saeed) ave 66. 80. Batsman with Maximum runs in the league; Anis Malik, 573 runs. Best batting performance in a match; Anis Malik, 209 runs against Young Athlete. Bowler with best average in the league; Iftekhar Ashraf (Saudia Milk) 21 wkts for 274 runs ave. 13. 04, M. Irfan (M. Saeed) 21 wkts for 392 runs ave. 18.66 and Ibrahim (Z. Zahran) 14 wkts for 237 runs ave. 16.92.
Bowler with maximum wickets in the league; Iftekhar (S. Milk) and Irfan (M. Saeed) both with 21 wickets. Best bowling performance in a match; Iftekhar (S. Milk) 5 wkts for 35 runs. Best all-round performance in a match; Iftekhar (S. Milk) 111 runs and 3/24 wkts/Y. Athlete.
Best all Rounder: Wajahat Hussain (M. Saeed) 334 runs and 12 wkts for 177 runs. Best Partnership: Anis Malik/Iftekhar (S. Milk) 226 runs against Y. Athlete. Wajahat Hussain and Maqbool Jilani (M. Saeed) 216 runs against I. D. Bank. Shahid Amin presented the JCL shield to the chief guest.
