NEW YORK, 20 July 2003 — Jason Giambi clubbed two home runs and Roger Clemens picked up his 302nd career win to help the New York Yankees stay hot with a 10-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians in the American League on Friday.
Giambi drove in three runs while Ruben Sierra and Alfonso Soriano both had two RBI as the Yankees opened up a four-game lead over the Boston Red Sox in the AL East.
Sierra also homered while Soriano added a two-run double as New York claimed its third straight win. Clemens (9-6) went six innings, despite a 61-minute rain delay in the fifth inning. He gave up four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Miguel Batista pitched a five-hit shutout and Steve Finley thumped a three-run homer for the second game in a row to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 6-0 blanking of the San Diego Padres in the National League on Friday.Batista (7-4) struck out five and walked two for his second career shutout, helping the Diamondbacks to their third straight win and 21st in 27 games.
Finley also hit a three-run homer in Arizona’s 9-1 rout in the series opener on Thursday. He had two hits and scored three runs on Friday. Shea Hillenbrand also homered for the D-Backs while Luis Gonzalez had two hits.

In San Francisco, Jim Brower tossed six shutout innings as the Giants swept aside the Colorado Rockies 7-0. Brower (6-2) allowed only three hits while striking out seven and walking one. Pedro Felix homered, Rich Aurilia drove in three runs and Barry Bonds had three hits.
