DAMMAM, 23 July 2003 — A Shariah court in Alkhobar province is looking into the case of a Bangladeshi national who turned an apartment into a mini theater for pornographic movies for his fellow Bangladeshi workers.

According to a source following the case in court, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Alkhobar received information that a foreigner, 20, was screening pornographic movies to foreign workers.

The young man was charging SR60 to show a porn movie in a large room in the furnished apartments of the firm that employed him. The fee was shared between the viewers.

Members of the commission had help from another foreigner in busting the operation. Posing as a buyer of pornographic tapes, the man led the commission to the Bangladeshi, who was arrested.

Members of the religious police also confiscated several CDs containing pornographic material.

The suspect confessed under interrogation and said he purchased the material from a stranger.
