JEDDAH, 28 July 2003 — A website to commemorate the 86th birthday of a man who was formerly Saudi minister of interior, minister of health and minister of sport, was launched on Saturday night.
To commemorate the memorable moments in the life and the achievements of Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal, the prince himself, his sons, and a large number of distinguished personalities and journalists attended the official launch of the new website, www.abdullahalfaisal.com, held in Jeddah at Al-Andalus Palace.
After the prince pressed the button to launch the new website, Prince Talal ibn Mohammed Al-Faisal said in his opening speech that the new website was dedicated to the great role Prince Abdullah has played during his life as a minister, an intellectual, a poet, an economist, a sportsman and his allround renaissance personality.
“We have striven to highlight all sides of Prince Abdullah and have finally succeeded in producing a suitable biography,” Prince Talal said.
“We have stressed all the important points and have included information on his early life, his leadership and achievements, his love of sports, and other important facts that a web user would want to know,” he said.
Speaking of Prince Abdullah, who is one of the few officials to have headed two ministries simultaneously, Prince Talal added that some very informative data will at the disposal of web users who will enjoy reading Prince Abdullah’s biography, the list of his published books and poetry and rare photographs from his early years.
“In addition, we made sure that web users would be able to make their own comments and remarks in the guest book,” the prince explained.
In conclusion, Prince Talal expressed his hope that all aspects of the life of one of the greatest and most popular personalities in Saudi history had been covered.
