JEDDAH, 28 July 2003 — Here’s a chance for OFWs in Jeddah who have missed the previous computer literacy workshops of the OFW Cooperative Council (OFWCC).
Council chairman Ed Rufino said their 12th seminar series will open on Aug. 1 and, as in the past, it will be free of charge. The training will be held for six consecutive Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Tropicana Restaurant on Tahlia St.
Rufino said participants will be given hands-on training on basic computer operations, software programs and computer hardware peripherals.
The OFWCC’s pool of trainers is led by Rudy Carillo, a Microsoft-certified system engineer, along with Ernie Geslani, Gary Paala, Jimmy Leonida, and the secretariat members.
The topics will be as follows: Aug. 1, Windows Operating System XP; Aug. 8, MS Word XP; Aug. 15, MS Excel XP; Aug. 22, MS Power Point XP; Aug. 29, PC Assembly and Set-up; and Sept. 5, MC Access.
Certificates of completion will be awarded on Sept 12.
OFWCC official Fred Castolome explained that while the seminar is free of charge, participants are requested to share the expenses of whatever is incurred during the whole period of the workshop for venue, food and rentals of computer units.
Organized under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate in 1998, OFWCC’s computer literacy program has already produced more than a thousand graduates.
