RIYADH, 1 August 2003 — KKIA Metrostar, after bowing down to Faisal Cargo in the second game to level the series 1-1, beat Faisal Cargo in game 3, 103-93, to bag the championship crown of the Filipino Basketball League (FBL) held at the Khalda housing compound, Malaz.
Faisal Cargo, under the leadership of Roble, Alviz, Luna and Bravo, the tournament’s MVP, had a point advantage at the end of the first quarter. Metrostar got back their tempo through the leadership of Allen Catalan and finished the second quarter with an 11-point lead.
Both teams traded shots in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter until Faisal Cargo started committing errors due to the tough defense imposed by Metrostar, who intercepted passes and converted points leading them to a 10-point victory. Awarding of trophies followed the game.
Tournament MVP - Bravo, Finals MVP and highest scorer of the tournament - Allen Catalan, Best point guard - Placino, Best off guard - Leodigario, Best forward - Roble, Best center - Bravo Defensive player - Blanco, Sportsmanship award - Medenilla, 6th man player award - Hadlocon, 3 point shooter - Alviz.
