RIYADH, 1 August 2003 — Basamh Goody Team storm back from two games down in the open rated division of there best-of-seven series on the ongoing ICBA Basketball Tournament in COCG Sports Complex at Industrial City. A huge oveflowing crowd stayed on their seat with excitement since the games was fought up to the last minute.
Riding on better field goal shooting, the Umea Led Wood Horizon stormed ahead at the first half 34-23 on the rainbow shooting by Barry Nader. With their ace center Jhon Gatchalian saddled with three fouls, Coach Juanito Magalang & Teody Tiongco made adjustment in the game, by stepping up the explosive combination of Alvin Serrano and Ricky Camaniag as the scored and collared more rebounds, along with Rey Buhat & Omeng Sahagun lending support. The sweet shooting by Buboy Rapada pushed the win for Basamh Goody Team 63-60. Umea Led Wood Horizon are still ahead in the series 2-1.In the Inter Company Division A, Mahmood Saeed Co. took the first win, 71-62 in three outings against Tropang Panis (guest team). Both Jhun Tejada and Ferdie Dagohoy proved to be unstoppable combining 60 percent of the total score, scoring 24 & 25 respectively.
Saudi Preco prevailed over BRC Industries 63-51 in the Inter-Company Division B. Coach Rizarte and best player Unida, of the Saudi Preco, called it a team effort.
Game results last Thursday, in the Inter Commercial Division, Team Coach Omar Bill of the Amiantit Muslim Team rotated his boys evenly and with six blocked shots by Khaifallah to the delight of the crowd, looked like making a match of it. But coach Omeng Sahagun’s Al Ghomri for Sports, withstood the rally with a maestro-like orchestration of plays by Nap Solis leading to Primo Rosales scoring heavily, as his side prevailed 67-59. Masat Al Sharq beat Bughsan Company (Pepsi Cola) and Al Ghomri for Sports won by a squeaker over Grain Silos Team 52-50.
Coach Omeng Sahagun, last week was really fortunate following a big win for Masat Al Sharq Company and Al Ghomri for Sports, and added a win of Goody Basamh team in the Open Rated as a player, was the real standout personality last week outsmarting his previous mentor ( Boy Corsega) as a coach.
