KUWAIT CITY, 5 August 2003 — Jordan’s Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb arrived in Kuwait yesterday for talks with Kuwaiti officials expected to focus on the situation in Iraq and on relations between Amman and the emirate.
Abu Ragheb, heading a high-level delegation, was welcomed at the airport by Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and other senior officials. During the two-day visit, Abu Ragheb is also expected to discuss oil supplies from Kuwait to Jordan.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Moasher, accompanying Abu Ragheb, was quoted by the KUNA news agency as thanking Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for providing his country with 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil free since the US-led war on Iraq was launched March 20. “Thanks to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Jordan found an alternative” to Iraqi crude, he said.
