DUBAI, 7 August 2003 — Prisoners in Dubai will soon be able to shop in prison using a smart card. “The card will be used as an identification card for prisoners. They will also be able to charge the card with credits electronically and use them to buy goods from the prison supermarket,” an official at the police department told Asharq Al-Awsat, a sister publication of Arab News.
