Kanoo Beat Natest in DHL Super Cup

ALKHOBAR, 8 August 2003 — Kanoo beat Natest by 21 runs in the final of the DHL Super Cup Tournament.

Batting first Kanoo scored 211 for 5 wickets. Munawer and Zulfiquar put on 63 runs for the first wicket in seven overs before Zulfiquar was out for 21 runs.

Akhtar joined Munawar and they took there score to 120 runs in 12 overs when Munawar was out, caught by Kashif off Baber, for 72 runs which included 10 boundaries.

Ijaz after scoring 10 runs was bowled by Baber and then Qaiser and Fahd fell in quick succession.

Akhtar played an anchor role and batted magnificently for and unbeaten 69, including 5 boundaries. Nawaz contributed breezy unbeaten 15 runs.

In reply, Natest were off to a fine start, hitting 114 runs in just 10 overs with Kashif in tremendous form. His 66 runs contained 7 boundaries and 2 towering sixes.

But once Kashif got out, wickets started falling in quick intervals and the run rate crept up. Qayuum (28), Naveed (28), Baber (17) and Murtaza (12) tried their best but they fell short by 21 as they managed 190 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Majaz Qadri took three wickets and Naheed got 2 wickets. This year has been very good for Kanoo as they have won all the tournaments.
