DAMMAM, 8 August 2003 — In EPECA 2O overs League Cricket Tournament finals, Kanoo lost to PC Cargo by 7 wickets.
Kanoo batted first after winning the toss. Kanoo lost their first wicket on the first ball. Ali Khan joined opener Nizam and both added 30 runs.
Kanoo middle order batsmen were unable to consolidate their score by playing loose shots that PC Cargo bowlers took advantage of and did not allow Kanoo batsmen to accelerate their score. Kanoo were all out for 125 runs in 20 overs. For Kanoo, only Ashraf batted well and scored 29. For PC Cargo, Nazeer and Wazeer captured 3 wickets each.
PC Cargo’s Fernando joined opener Rizwan, and consolidated their batting by adding 75 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rizwan scored 42 runs (1 six & 6 fours). PC Cargo achieved their winning target in 18 overs. For PC Cargo Nazeer batted magnificently and scored 36 runs with 5 sixes & a four and was judged as Man of the Match.
Tournament’s best performers were: Sampath of SLEA - Best Batsman, Prajeet of PC Cargo - Best Bowler, Shafaqat of Crescent — Best Wicketkeeper, Rizwan of PC Cargo and Khalid of Crescent - Men of the Tournament for their all round performances.
