JEDDAH, 22 August 2003 — Banking on the games of Rudy Valenzuela with team effort provided by Bonnie Garica, Goying Salazar, Ruben Medina and Rodell Ricafort helped Tetra Pak grab the No. 1 position on the opening day of the All Filipino Tenpin Bowling League, 30th Conference.
The league is organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ) under the leadership of its President, Rene San Pedro and being played every Saturday at the Jeddah Lanes Bowling Center.
Valenzuela, a class A bowler with a series of 584 in three games led the Tetra Pak squad. Garcia and Salazar, scored a separate series of 564 and 551 while Medina and Ricafort scored an identical three game series of 521. An overall total team series handicap of 2,876 points was registered by them sealing 32 big points to put them as the current league leaders.
SkyFreight Forwarders team collected 30 points through Cris Villavelez who carded a three game series scratch of 604. Danny de Guzman and the two-time 300 perfect holder, Rene Santiago scored a series of 582 and 568 in three outings. Edu Toledo and Hero Garcia had a series of 547 and 484. The SkyFreight Forwarders, the first runner-ups in the just concluded AFTBL 29th conference, compiled overall total team series handicap of 2,878. The defending champion, the Dove Bar team garnered 28.5 points with Nap Patayan on top with 594, followed by Jess Pineda (590) and Joey Salvador (582). Mar Cabrera and Randy “gigolo” Mata rolled a series of 518 and 444. The Dove Bar team captained by Edwin Ronquillo tallied an overall total team series handicap of 2,842 points.
Universal Bowlers with Toto Lim posting a series of 590 in three sets, registered 25 points. Rudy Punzalan, Andy Erena and Joe Flores toppled a series of 539, 522 and 500. Vhoi Ycong downed 494 points.
Picpa Pro snatched 23 points through Emil Payongayong and Lindo Villanueva who shot a series of 599 and 568. Sebz Tristeza, Jun Pilipina and Paul Antiporda scored a separate series of 517, 495 and 474. Picpa Pro’s accumulated overall total team series handicap was 2,794.
Cali Sparkling Drink scored 21 points. Rally Zamora fired a series of 575 with Mao Orolfo on a 556 series, followed by Abet Sarte with a score of 555. Igna Salgado and Roger Abantas contributed a series of 496 and 487. Saudia Wings posted 18 points with Nonie Yap pinning an impressive 632 series in three outings. Yap rolled a game-high of 253 in the first game. Alex Flora and Wilson Triguero added 552 and 502 while Benjie Cyls and Ed Labuac had 491 and 446.
The duo of Larry Santos and Roger Daquioag helped SDC Kohler to post 18 points. Santos and Daquioag carded a series of 562 and 559. Raul delos Reyes and Boy Casio pinned down a series of 545 and 51 while Epoy Santos had 457 points.
Saudi Pearl Insurance, playing with a blind player managed to snatch 14 points with Rey Beltran hitting a 573 series, followed by Angel Decena (536), Rene Martinez (534), and Luis T. Luna (494). Gandour Yamama stole 10.5 points with Leo Pangilinan (512) and Fred Monzon (505). Mel Yabut, Terry Naorbe and Liny Suriaga downed 494, 465 and 432.
