JEDDAH, 29 August 2003 — The Malaysia Airlines and the Sadafco-Saudia Majestic bowling teams dominated the opening day of the Inter-Commercial Family Bowling League organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ) through its president, Rene San Pedro. The league is being played every Friday at the Jeddah Lanes Bowling Center located at the Mosadia Plaza.
Elite Bheng Cerbito powered the Sadafaco quintet to the top spot on the opening day. Serbito, scoring 215 in the last game submitted a three game series of 565. Dante Calapatia, Rene Martinez, Jess Cerbito and Luz Pagaran hit separate series of 550, 544, 482 and 456 for an overall total team output of 2,810 points.
The Malaysia Airlines piloted by the one-time 300 perfect holder, Roger Daquioag sealed 29 points with Daquioag tallying a series of 612, including a game-high of 246. Obie Ycasas carded 534 while Sammy Ocampo, Aleli Sacto and Grace Dasas contributed a separate series of 441, 421 and 415 as they garnered an overall total team series handicap of 2,759 pinfalls.
The Mizan-Salam Rice compiled 28 points with Jun Pilipina posting 550 series. Rally Zamora and Margie Villasanta wrapped up 535 and 502 series while Igna Salgado and Ester Jalata poured 463 and 418.
The Saudi Pearl Insurance mentored by Rene San Pedro had 26 points with Boy Casio hitting 560 pinfalls. Rey Beltran, Danny de Guzman and Myrna de Guzman shot 522, 474 and 435 while Lyn Decena scored 385 series. Andy Erena helped Sunsilk Shampoo to collect 26 points by tallying a three game series of 541. Rudy Punzalan and Jun Lasaga scored series of 513 and 508 and Fatima Jintarat and Puri Parenas hit separate series of 476 and 375.
Defending champions, the Cee Bee Aviation Company recorded 24 points through the combined efforts of Eddie Alisbo (581), Nap Patayan (546), Lindo Villanueva (505), Susan Patayan (504) and Aiza Silabay (444). The Berks and the Falcon III team keglers sealed separate points of 23 and 18. The leading scorers for the Berks were Jess Pineda (609), Mao Orolfo (553). Lavern Laderas (474), Jay Perez (451) and Che Bautista (406). For the Falcon III team, Ver Luz hit 522, Ed Labuac (491) and Bing Tuazon (487), Arnold Biblanias (396) and Cor del Rosario (336).
The Al-Nafie Steel Company and the NPS registered an identical 14 points. Joey Salvador led in the Al-Nafie Steel Company by posting a series of 553 followed by Rene Santiago (505). Tess Marasigan, Nanding Siasoco and Grace Siasaco had a separate series of 425, 403 and 375. The unheralded Pinky Acato shone to topscore in the NPS team with 498. Goying Salazar and Atoi Cruz pocketed 488 and 455. Bonnie Garcia and Charrie Cruz toppled 446 and 421.
