Scala Business Solutions is providing Saudi Arabia’s Arabian Tile Company Limited (ARTIC), part of the Aggad Group, with iScala 2.1 enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. ARTIC is hoping that Scala’s collaborative ERP system will give it a competitive edge. With more than 500 employees and a turnover in excess of SR70 million, ARTIC is expanding every year. ARTIC will use SCALA software in the following areas: Financial, manufacturing, inventory, sales and dispatch, payroll and project management.

Riyadh-based ARTIC has been working with Scala for three years now to fulfill the company’s rapidly growing business requirements. During that time Scala’s systems have allowed ARTIC to increase market share and revenues, while reducing costs.

Suleiman Bashiti, GM, ARTIC, said: “Our old DOS-based system lacked integration, communication and efficiency. Scala addressed some core problems for us: The lack of communication between sites; a lack of system integration; the need for accurate costing to stay competitive, and provision of timely information for decision makers.”

Bashiti cited Scala’s global support, multilanguage capabilities, special emphasis on manufacturing and advanced functionality as key factors in the decision to adopt the state-of-the-art solution. ARTIC’s sister company, Rana Confectionery, was already using Scala software, so its expertise was tried and tested as far as ARTIC was concerned.

ARTIC did not take the decision to move to a collaborative ERP system lightly. Allied Business Developers (ABD), a consultancy firm, was contracted to evaluate and choose the most suitable solution based on ARTIC’s prerequisites. Great Plains, Sage, Oracle, and Focus were all considered, before the final decision to go with Scala was made. For ARTIC, value for money was a major factor, but also, according to Bashiti, “Scala’s team reflected great confidence in their software and personnel, and our previous experience showed Scala has a very good support team that can deliver timely support.”

Ziad Aqrabawi, regional managing director, Scala Middle East & Africa, commented: “Saudi Arabia is just beginning to embrace ERP, and ARTIC is to be commended for taking the bold decision to adopt our advanced technology. It will not only enjoy greater business efficiencies than ever before, but also all the benefits of early adoption, such as competitive advantage and better financial controls.”
