RIYADH, 17 September 2003 — A pressure group has been formed to take up, among other things, the cause of some 500 students of the International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR) who are sitting at home due to their inability to pay school fees. The True United Indians’ Forum, a voluntary group, will seek a waiver of the fees amounting to nearly SR200,000 and 50 percent of the SR180 monthly fee for new students in deserving cases, Afzal Ali Jagirdar, the forum’s president, said.

“Some 250 parents alone contacted me when we were going to launch the forum. Based on that I can safely assert at least 500 students have been forced to stay at home by their parents’ inability to pay the school fees,” he said.
