RIYADH, 27 September 2003 — The Saudi Distribution Company, an affiliate of the Saudi Research and Marketing Group, has signed a SR400 million deal with Asir Press and Publication Organization to distribute Al-Watan Arabic newspaper for five years.
“The total value of the deal is about SR400 million, considered the largest deal in the history of Saudi newspaper distribution,” a press statement issued by SRMG said.
The agreement was signed here on Tuesday by Luay Abdullah Mutabaqani, director general of the Asir Press and Publication Organization, and Dr. Azzam ibn Muhammad Al-Dakheel, director general of Saudi Distribution.
“This is a significant and qualitative move by SDC as it has won distribution rights of one of the fastest growing Saudi newspapers,” Dr. Dakheel said. He added that Al-Watan daily, which started publication three years ago, was going from strength to strength with tremendous growth in sales.
Established in 1984, SDC distributes all the publications of the Saudi Research and Publishing Company including Arab News, as well as hundreds of other local and foreign newspapers and magazines.
