NEW DELHI, 4 October 2003 — RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav is all set to be re-elected the national president of the party for the third consecutive time. Laloo Yadav was the lone candidate to file nomination during the two hours’ time fixed for filing of papers for the post today, RJD National Returning Officer Ramchandra Purve told reporters.
Two sets of nominations were filed by Laloo, which were proposed by 10 party National Council members including Bihar RJD chief Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Kanti Singh, MP, Bihar ministers Jagdanan Singh, Shivanand Tiwary and Shyam Razak, he said. Earlier, Laloo came to RJD state party office accompanied by hundreds of slogan-shouting party workers and a band playing music. Laloo, who is the founder president of the party since 1997, was elected RJD national president for the first time in 1999.
The formal announcement of the elected party president will be made during the RJD two-day national convention here starting from Oct. 11.
