DAMMAM, 10 October 2003 — The owner of a private school in the Eastern Province bypassed the school principal and punished students by making them stand for four hours in the scorching sun. According to a report in Al-Watan newspaper, the students were punished for being late for the morning lineup. Parents were alerted to the unusual punishment when a distressed pupil rang his father asking for help, the paper said.
