JEDDAH, 11 October 2003 — The Health Ministry has told hospitals to admit emergency cases without asking for prior payment, Al-Nadwa newspaper reported. The ministry is asking hospitals and clinics to provide adequate treatment to patients regardless of their nationality.

Once a patient’s condition has stabilized, private hospitals are required to send a request to the department of health affairs in the area accompanied by the patient’s medical report to claim payment. A committee at the department will then decide each claim on its merits, the paper said.
