KARACHI, 11 October 2003 — Lawyers throughout Pakistan will launch a march from Lahore to Islamabad on Monday, Oct. 13 to mobilize “public opinion” against the Legal Framework Order, particularly against its parts relating to the president-in-uniform, National Security Council, Article 58(2)b and extension in the service limit of the superior court judges. From the four provinces and Azad Jammu and Kashmir the lawyers will gather in Lahore on Oct. 13 from where they will march toward Islamabad in cars, buses and other vehicles.
The marchers will have stopovers in Ferozwala, Wazirabad, Gujarat, Jehlum, Kharian and Gujjar Khan where the lawyers of the respective bar associations will join them for the federal capital, said president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Hamid Khan while addressing a press conference.
All lawyers present at the press conference endorsed the long march and warned the administration against any unlawful measure to stop the lawyers from proceeding to Islamabad where they are also scheduled to hold a convention against the LFO and others issues the same day.
