CAIRO, 12 October 2003 — An Egyptian appeals court overturned a one-year sentence handed down to a Libyan accused of attacking Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal at a Cairo hotel, court sources said yesterday. The Guizeh criminal court on Sept. 29 sentenced Mahmud Al-Beshir Ahmed, a 27-year-old businessman, to one year in prison for the attack. But the president of the Guizeh criminal appeals court, Judge Ahmed Hashem, quashed the sentence.
