Al-Faisaliah, Marriott and Sheraton Outfight Rivals

RIYADH, 17 October 2003 — The Al-Faisaliah team of Rey Hagoriles, Marriott team of Rey Macapagal and the Sheraton squad of Jess Lumanog knocked down their respective rivals in the 16th Annual Riyadh Inter-Hotels Basketball Tournament being held at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel every Thursday and Friday.

Al-Faisaliah spearheaded by Jayson Lopera, Edu Fajardo, Ali Almarzogi, Fakieh and Ramilo Padilla with veterans Jojo Bulan, Gerry Donato and Eugene Cuyong were unstoppable enroute their first win in the elimination round at the expense of Radisson SAS Hotel anchored by Leo Berenguel, 87-56.

Vic Labro, Richel Tomate and Mashar topscored for the Radisson SAS Hotel team. The Sheraton Hotel squad overpowered rookie team Al Fahd Crown Hotel boyz anchored by Arlan Pajarillo, Jomel Mercado, Karding Medenilla and Allen Caparas (sporting jersey no. 22).

The Sheraton boyz were leading all the way with 21 points in the 3rd quarter when the arrival of Abdulaziz Al Fahd with Abdullah Al Fahd, hotel owner served as an inspiration for Arlan Pajarillo and Karding Medenilla to get better of their scoring spree and defense and cut the lead to 6 at the buzzer end, 63-57.

Sheraton Riyadh team headed by Robert Singue, Rex Capati, Bong Lagman, William Florida and Jay Soriano continued their winning streak this time at the expense of the Riyadh Inter.Con boyz of Neo Egamino and Ayan Dibaratun. Inter.Con’s Pedor Alves, Dom Bravo with Javier Sanchez did the muscle warm up but were not enough to narrow the margin of this ballgame with 77-63 team scores.

Expert cager in the field of basketball Rey Macapagal of the Marriott Hotel led his team to victory in a decisive game offered by Al Fahd Crown Hotel team.

Banking on their height, Macapagal and Ed Manansala dominated the rebound in performance with Leo Nebres, Jovit Laygo and Crimson Treyes as they overcame the strong fight offered by the Al Fahd Crown boyz of coach Yousuf Khan with Romico Roque. Marriott Hotel with the curtain closed at 88-76.
