JEDDAH, 12 November 2003 — More than 1,500 invitees representing different communities and states of India participated in an iftar organized by the Muslim Education Society (MES) at Al-Wurood School on Friday. “This was an unprecedented gathering. Activities of the fast-breaking event showed the interest the MES has generated,” MES Secretary C.P. Saleem said. Imdad Husein Hashmi and Sameena Khan of International Indian School-Jeddah were awarded the Kochu Moideen shields for the best boy and girl student respectively for scoring highest marks in the last All India Secondary School exam. Nishi Balan, another student from the school, was presented the overall trophy.
