Grizzlies Crush Nets for Biggest Ever Win

MEMPHIS, 15 December 2003 — Bonzi Wells scored 22 points as the Memphis Grizzlies recorded the biggest win in the history of the franchise by crushing the New Jersey Nets 110-63 on Saturday.

Memphis had six players in double-figures, including Mike Miller and Stromile Swift with 18 points each, as they outdid their previous best of 124-92 over Atlanta in March. Miller added seven assists, while Pau Gasol had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who also allowed the fewest points in one game in franchise history.

New Jersey, for whom Kenyon Martin high-scored with 12 points, had won four straight but came within one point of their lowest ever score in a game.

In Cleveland, Paul Pierce scored 41 points to help Boston to their fifth straight win. Pierce added nine rebounds and six assists, Vin Baker added 16 points and Mike James had 13 points and nine assists as the Celtics registered their 12th straight win over Cleveland.

In Atlanta, Tracy McGrady scored 30 points as Orlando got their third win in the last four outings after snapping their 19-game losing streak. Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 25 points and Stephen Jackson added 20 for Atlanta.

Knicks 95 Nuggets 88

In New York, Keith Van Horn scored 16 points as the Knicks beat Denver. Antonio McDyess and Allan Houston both added 15 points for the Knicks. Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points to lead Denver, while Marcus Camby added 12 points and 12 rebounds in his return to New York.

In San Antonio, Manu Ginobili scored 16 points as the Spurs beat Houston. Rasho Nesterovic added 14 points while Tony Parker had 10 points and 12 assists for San Antonio. Steve Francis led Houston with 17 points, while Yao Ming added 11 points and nine rebounds.

In Chicago, Jamal Crawford and Kirk Hinrich both had 18 points to lead the Bulls to a win over Indiana.

Marcus Fizer matched 15 points with 15 rebounds for Chicago, while Jerome Williams had 10 points and 15 rebounds and Antonio Davis added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

In Los Angeles, Quentin Richardson scored 26 points to lead the Clippers past slumping Phoenix.Elton Brand had 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Clippers, while Corey Maggette also grabbed 21 points.

In Portland, Rasheed Wallace had 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the Trail Blazers handed the Los Angeles Lakers their second straight loss. Zach Randolph added 24 points and 11 rebounds for Portland, while Kobe Bryant had 35 points and Shaquille O’Neal added 22 points.
