ZAMBOANGA CITY, 15 December 2003 — The Philippines’ largest Muslim separatist group Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) hailed yesterday the capture of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein near his hometown in Tikrit.
“We hope that with Saddam Hussein’s capture there will be peace now for the Iraqi people. We hope Hussein’s arrest would free Iraq from further trouble,” MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu told Arab News at an undisclosed place in the island of Mindanao.
Kabalu said the capture of Saddam was a “welcome development in freeing Iraq from the clutches of a dictator.”
