RIYADH, 19 December 2003 — The Winter Dart Challenge continued last Friday with Wakaray and Alesayi Motors gaining wins in a separate showdown in the ongoing stepladder contest played at Cues Recreation Center here.
The victors will go up against STR Taytay and Phoenix for the final games while the winners of these showdowns will vie for the championship crown in the next meeting.
The first battle showed Ace Darters and Absal Tech bowing to Bulls and Black Jack respectively.
However, the winners were stopped by Wakaray and Alesayi in the second game, dropping them off the ladder. Peter Maranan’s Wakaray team showed firepower in the singles event grabbing 7 points out of 8 and gave only 1 point to Bull’s Nerio Brosas, the lone survivor of the onslaught. In the doubles round, Ely Martos finished a madhouse (D1) in the first match-up that ended the game instantly, giving only a point to the devastated Bulls, 9-1.
Alesayi Motors guided by Dado Corpuz pinned down seasoned darters, Black Jack. The victors gained a convincing 5-3 lead in the singles with Andayran, Tolentino, Del Moral, Faustino and Enorosa sharing momentous wins. Only Lorenzo, Guardiana and Mendieta scored for the losers’ side.
The partnership of Alesayi’s Andayran and Faustino grabbed the first doubles to gain the edge, 7-2.
Second contingents Ilarde and Enerosa duplicated the scenario, with Ilarde delivering the winning target of D1.
The MVP qualifiers are Peter Lachica, Edgar Andayran, Zoilo Holganza, Bannie Alagar, Philip Agliam, Adrian Tolentino, Resty dela Pena, Domeng Cunanan, Alex Suyo, Rudy Metrillo, Ding Roxas and Mannie Barroga.
