RIYADH, 12 January 2004 — A mobile medical team will be deployed by the Sri Lankan Embassy this year to look after the country’s pilgrims during Haj, Ambassador Ibrahim Sahib Ansar told Arab News.

He said it was the first time such an arrangement had been made. The medical group, consisting of Dr. Muhammad Haroon, Dr. Muhammad Aliyar and Dr. K. Muhammad, will visit the Sri Lankan camps in Makkah, Madinah and Mina.

The first group of Sri Lankan Haj pilgrims arrived Sunday afternoon at the Haj Terminal in Jeddah. Besides the ambassador, Consul General A.C.M. Ibrahim and officials from the Haj Ministry and Saudi Arabian Airlines were present to receive the pilgrims.
