Drug Smuggling Attempt Foiled

JEDDAH, 24 January 2004 — Jordanian security agents have foiled an attempt to smuggle 17 kilograms of heroin into the Kingdom.

According to Al-Watan, Jordanian police arrested two Turks at the Jaber border post. The drugs were hidden in their car. Preliminary investigations indicated that the heroin belonged to Yanmi Maz, also a Turk. The smugglers were planning to hand over the narcotics to individuals near the border.
